When :- Jun 22, 03:00 PM

Riding high on two back to back wins, New Zealand will plan to expand their triumphant run when they take on Afghanistan in the thirteenth match of ICC World Cup 2019 at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton, on Saturday. The Kiwis have had a little issue so far in their crusade as they had enlisted a 10-wicket victory upon Sri Lanka in their first match before crossing the Bangladeshi obstacle in the following game with 2 wickets. The Kane Williamson-drove side would need their center order to execute as they got thrashed badly by the Bangladeshi bowlers. Other than that, the Kiwi unit has looked like a reasonable side in all areas and would not have any desire to give up another chance to stop a success against a more fragile side.

Afghans, then again, are the by and large minnows of this competition and would need to leave an imprint. Losing both their matches, the Gulbadin Naib-drove side have some match victors on their side who have the ability to turn the match on their head. The Afghan camp would trust that their key players create something unprecedented against a lot more grounded New Zealand.

Pitch Report:

The weather should most probably remain clear for the game with the fast bowlers bound to get some help early on. As seen in the South Africa-India match, the batsmen will find it difficult early on a pitch that is a bit on the slower side.

Team News:

India

  • With Bhuvneshwar Kumar all set to miss the next couple of matches, Shami should replace the pacer whilst adding more firepower with his ability to bowl at a good enough pace. Apart from this one change, the Indian team should remain the same with Vijay Shankar and KL Rahul doing well against the Pakistani side last week.
  • With the form current form in which Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are playing, Indians will be expected to make light work of The Afghan team and continue their charge in World Cup 2019.

Afghanistan

  • After playing with only two pacers against the English side, the Afghans could bring in a pacer or two at the expense of Mujeeb ur Rahman and Najibullah Zadran. Rashid Khan recorded the worst figures for a spin bowler in one days but should be expected to strike back as the batting order looks to fire in unison after a fine performance against the English team.
  • Gulbadin Naib will continue to bat at the top of the order along with Noor Ali Zadran while the middle order will be expected to get some good runs against the Indian spin twin.

Head To Head In World Cup

Total Matches Play :- 2

India Won : 1

Afghanistan Won : 0

Key Stats:

IND vs AFG
  • After Shikhar being ruled out from this WCC for all matches, India will continue with KL Rahul in his place for the rest of the matches.
  • AFG is almost out of this world cup but may try to defeat India to protect their reputation, whereas India didn’t lose any matches yet. We expect another win from them.
  • Rohit Sharma is looking in a great form, after a fine IPL performance he is scoring consistently, and can score again against a weak Afghan team, he would be the default pick as Captain or VC in both the small and grand league.
  • We saw KL Rahul come back with a good half-century against the Pakistani side, hence he can be very much effective in the grand league.
  • India is in a good form, so go with more Indian players in safe leagues.
  • Sahidi scored a half-century against England, also the way he faced England bowlers was very impressive, he can be very much useful in the grand league as captain or VC.
  • The mystery king Rashid was too costly against England, he is also not looking in good touch we advise to ignore him.
  • Sami can be back in place of Bhuvneshwar, he impressed us in the previous matches. He can be a game changer for India and is a very good option for the big league in absence of Bhuvneshwar.
  • Bumrah is taking wickets consistently, he will be a great pick.
